Stress and trouble are universally experienced. There is no restriction due to age, gender or social standing - hardship is no respecter of persons. Similarly, those who truly enjoy life are found among all categories of people. The rich and poor, the beautiful and the plain, the very intelligent and those with learning disabilities, the short and tall, the svelte and the rotund, have among them those who enjoy life.
Social scientists claim that there is a direct correlation between the enjoyment of life and gratitude and theses experts indicate that gratitude is nourished by giving thanks for what you have instead of pining for what you don't have.
The Bible admonishes God's followers to "give thanks" (Psalm 136:1) and to "rejoice" (Philippians 4:4). God knew long ago what 21st Century researchers now tell us on the basis of their data.
Would you like to enjoy life more? Complain less. Try this. For one day, no, for one hour, do your very best not to utter a word of complaint. Not about the weather, your mood, your pay, your spouse, your health or your boss. It's tough, but with the help of the Holy Spirit you can do it! Take it a step further. Don't just, not complain. Give thanks. Give thanks that you have a roof over your head and a thermostat to control your comfort. I'll bet you have plenty to eat and if you are like most Americans, you have income. Thank God for all of that. Why thank Him? Because whether you know Him or don't, every kindness, directly or indirectly comes from Him (James 1:17).
If you are a follower of Christ, you have a lot to add to the list of things for which you can be thankful. You can thank God for a relationship with Him! For sins forgiven and more!
