What will 2020 hold for you? Here's something profound (ha!): The same thing every other year of your life has held! It will hold promise and challenge!
Please understand though, that you do not have to be a victim of events that are beyond your control. You can't always control what happens to you, but with God's help, you are not helpless- you can control what you do to prepare for life's unforeseen events and you can control how you respond to them.
To a very large extent, you control the measure of peace, joy and victory you experience. If you are truly walking with God and seeking Him in solitude and experiencing Him in community, you are setting yourself up for success. If you diligently work on getting whole and healthy, devoting yourself to your spouse and children, if you do your best to work hard and manage your resources well, you are setting yourself up for greater peace of mind.
Life isn't that complex. It doesn't take a PhD in philosophy or physics to figure it out. There are rich people who are lonely and angry and there are poor people who have fulfilling relationships and live in peace. Your circumstances only dictate your mindset if you let them. Make this a year when you decide to stop being a victim. Invite God into your experience of this year. Ask Him to help you live only one day at a time and to remember to keep inviting Him into everything!
Ask Him to show you how to carry your cross during 2020. That's His formula for success- a daily life of self denial. We North Americans think success is about material abundance, recognition and power. God wants to deliver us from such deception! The way up is down! The way to life is death! The way to find fulfillment is to empty yourself!
You can have personal revival every day! You don't need to wait for a movement in some far away location. If you determine with God's help, to deny yourself each and every day of this new year and you take up your cross and follow Jesus, this year will be a smashing success! Nothing will be able to defeat you! How will you live in 2020?
