Life is over far too fast, even for those who live long– makes me think, what do I want to leave my kids that is something more than a solid footing, like good morals and an enviable career path? Am I preparing them not only for eternity, but to live each day with Kingdom priorities?
I thank God that I am saved by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone. That said, we must know that heaven is not a communist state. We are told to “store up treasures” there. We are told that what we do on this side of eternity matters, that one day, we’ll each stand alone before the judgment seat of Christ and give an accounting for what we did with the treasure of His salvation. Did we use our gifts, education, skills, temperament, experience and opportunities in ways that pleased the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?
Did we make decisions in ways that included Him? Did we learn that while He didn’t want to micromanage us, He wanted to be included and He was available to influence us (as we see in such texts as Proverbs 3:5,6)?
Next week I'll share some final thoughts and wrap up this series.
