I have been listening to some very fine people share their outrage about the intrusion of Gay-Lesbian values into the Church. They have a legitimate concern that the Church not approve of lifestyles that are incongruous with God's standards for purity.
This outrage does not seem to extend to the much more prevalent problems of heterosexual sin among Christians or toward greed or resentment, gossip, or bigotry in the Church. All of which are commonplace.
It is always easiest to identify the sin in others (the "speck") than our own (the "log")- Matthew 7:3.
When we begin to see our own faults to the extent that they create something well beyond discomfort, when we actually feel pained by our own sin and repent of it, we may then find ourselves in a place where we can be of some help to the others who struggle to overcome their particular sin.
