Most everyone struggles with or knows someone who struggles with a health issue. It can be very puzzling when we who have come to know Jesus as our healer, don't experience the healing we hope for. Hopefully, this series will provide some encouragement.
I’ve been and continue to be an advocate for the healing ministry of Jesus and have come to believe that God’s default answer to our desire to experience healing is an emphatic, “Yes!” I’ve come to this place of conviction even though I’ve had my own journey with severe chronic pain and even though my wife, Laura, has suffered numerous afflictions and even though we’ve had mixed results with healing.
Why do I believe this? Jesus, Paul and the writer of Hebrews made it clear that Jesus is the embodiment of the nature and will of God (see John 14:9; Hebrews 1:3; Colossians 1:15). It appears that Jesus healed indiscriminately, so that shows what God thinks of healing, doesn’t it? Add to this that Jesus sent His disciples to do likewise (see John 20:21) and that the Book of Acts, where many healings are recorded, is a narrative which reveals how God continues to work through human beings who are living under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Add to this that Jesus is the same person now, with the same ministry values, as He was in the days of His earthly ministry (Hebrews 13:8) and that He is willing to do for anyone what He did for someone (He is impartial– see Romans 2:11; Galatians 2:6; 3:28; Ephesians 6:9; Acts 10:34) and hopefully, you also will be convinced that God loves to heal.
More next week.
